The Heart of Sacramento Exhibit

Curating a cultural art exhibit inside a major retail center to celebrate Sacramento's diverse creative community and transform an underutilized corridor into an immersive gallery experience.
01 — THE CHALLENGE
Arden Fair needed to commemorate a major milestone by displaying the cumulative impact of UnchARTed activations, exhibits, and performances. Using vacant tenant space, two exhibits were curated and executed to celebrate participating artists and the supporting community.
“We didn't want art in a mall. We wanted a mall that became art.”
02 — THE APPROACH
The Heart of Sacramento gallery was created in gratitude towards all of the artists that have participated in the program since its inception. 41 artists featured, 140 total artworks displayed, central informational booth with rotating LCD screen, Black Creativity in Sacramento timeline, and strategic bench placement for visitor engagement.

03 — THE OUTCOME
The exhibit drew coverage from Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Observer, Comstock's Magazine, Good Day TV, CapRadio, and KCRA. 41 artists featured with 140 artworks displayed over a 3-month run from April 8 to June 19, 2022.
