Pop-up Concerts with Living Room Vibes

A monthly music series transforming vacant retail space into intimate concert experiences celebrating Sacramento's musicians.

THE CHALLENGE

The initiative aimed to elevate Sacramento's talented musicians by providing a performance platform within the shopping center while activating vacant or underutilized spaces.

We swapped a vacant storefront for a couch, a lamp, and a houseplant — and suddenly strangers were sitting close enough to hear the guitar breathe.

THE APPROACH

Each month featured a different artist performing for approximately 1.5 hours in a vacant retail space transformed into a living room setting with accent chairs, coffee tables, lamps, artwork, houseplants, and bookshelves. Promoted through artist partnerships and the Sacramento music community.

THE OUTCOME

Over 1,000 square feet of space activated. The program generated interest from over 30 new local artists. During COVID-19, relaunched as In Your Living Room Vibes — a virtual concert series on Facebook Live.
